NW Region   Director’s Report     22 Jan 10

·         Common issue continues to be downturn in business.

·         Some items of interest:

o   Alva Regional Airport is continuing to work an FAA project to extend RWY 17/35 from 4400 ft to 5200 ft.  Progress is slow due to weather.  Business is also slow.

o   Buffalo Municipal has two projects underway supported by FAA grants.  Those are the building of a heliport and the addition of turnabouts at each end of their runway that will ease the difficulty of turning around on their narrow RWY.

o   Clinton Regional Airport reports that although fuel sales are still low, traffic has picked up a bit.

o   Enid Woodring Regional Airport is nearing completion of a RWY 17/35 lighting project via FAA grant that includes upgrade of the threshold bar for RWY 35, PAPIs for both approaches, a new power regulator to handle additional power, and wind sock lighting. Additionally, Enid recently was awarded a $400K grant from ODOT via the Industrial Access Road program to upgrade the principle feeder route to the Cimarron Industrial Park located at the airport. Finally, a Foreign Trade Zone application aimed at future businesses in the park, has been forwarded.

o   Fairview Municipal Airport is working a hangar apron project.  Business slow.

o   Ponca City Regional Airport  is continuing a three phase FAA project to refurbish about 2/3 of their main parallel taxiway. Estimate completion date is late February or early March.

o   Thomas P Stafford Airport is still pursuing approval of an environmental impact study so they can put their RWY extension project out for bid.

o   West Woodward reports that business is down and has no current projects underway.  They are having some difficulty getting their AWOS repaired as qualified technicians in Oklahoma are a rare commodity.

NW Region   Director’s Report    30 Oct 09

·         Common issue is downturn in business for past year.

·         Some items of interest:

o   Alva Regional Airport is anticipating completion of RWY extension to 5200 ft in May 2010 assuming no extensive weather delays.  Airport manager optimistic about sales as business is actually picking up a bit.  Again discussed prospect of military acft being able to use the runway after completion as a means of ginning up more business….need military contract fuel (DESC)—However, DESC requires the airport to have a minimum 15,000 gal Jet-A fuel tank…which Alva does not currently have.

o   Clinton Regional Airport has just completed a refurbishment of their parallel taxiway.

o   Enid Woodring Regional Airport Just completed a project in which two ramp areas were excavated and replaced via FAA grant.  RWY 13/31 and associated taxiways will be repaired and receive a micro sealant via OAC grant in the spring/summer.  Several minor projects ongoing/recently finished.  Fuel sales down slightly from previous years.

o   Fairview Municipal Airport will be holding their 58th annual fly in on November 14, 2009. Event will include an air show beginning at 1300.

o   Ponca City Regional Airport  is in the process of refurbishing about 2/3 of their main parallel taxiway because of its proximity to the main runway.  Previous FBO has departed leaving the FBO duties to the city.  Transition is progressing.  Overall airport traffic is down.

o   Thomas P Stafford Airport working to attain environmental impact approval to extend their runway.  This is a long term process since in order to get approval to extend the runway, they had to eliminate a portion of a golf course.  As a consequence, the city had to designate a “replacement in kind” i.e., a new park as a replacement.  Hoping to break ground in 2010.
