(STILLWATER, OKLA. / Oct. 13, 2009) — The public is invited to a ribbon-cutting celebrating the reopening of Runway 17-35 at the Stillwater Regional Airport Wednesday, Oct. 21. The ceremony starts at 1:15 p.m. in Airport Terminal Building, 2020 W. Airport Rd.

The runway rehabilitation project was funded by a $5.9M grant from the American Recovery and Reinvestments Act of 2009, and it was one of the largest airport projects funded in Oklahoma. Other Oklahoma airports receiving the ARRA funding included Will Rogers World Airport, Wiley Post, Bartlesville, Okmulgee and Pauls Valley.

Completed in a record three months, the project was one of the first ARRA airport projects to be completed in the Federal Aviation Administration's southwest region.

'We are very excited about the completion of this project. Work began June 1 and was completed by Sept. 3 in time to for the first home OSU football game," Gary Johnson, airport director, said.
