"The National Association of Manufacturers President and CEO John Engler testified this week before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure that a renewed federal commitment to the nation’s transportation infrastructure will help ensure manufacturing competitiveness.  “First, it will help prepare the nation for its rebound and second, it will help states and localities make progress on the growing backlog of transportation infrastructure projects that are critical to manufacturers,” Engler said.  Oklahoma has a $12 billion backlog of transportation infrastructure needs.  Engler testified that dedicating federal resources to our inland waterways, aviation, rail and highway infrastructure will “contribute to creating a stable economic climate that is centered on recovery and future growth.”  Oklahoma Fifth District Congresswoman Mary Fallin sits on the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.
